What I get up to in my spare time

When I am not at my computer, tablet or phone – which lets be real here is about 95% of my waking life, I am often found doing one of the activities listed below.

Taking amateur photos

Always been a bit snap happy. I remember when I was a kid asking for a new compact digital camera every other year or so. I remember saving up pocket money to buy a 128MB SD card which at the time was amazing. Before then I even had a wind-up camera that you send off to get the film developed. I ventured into a bridge camera in my teens but have settled on just using my smartphone to take photos now.

Reviewing the world bit by bit

Following on from my habit of now reviewing pubs and restaurants visited with friends, I also review virtually everywhere else I have been.

This all takes place on Google Maps where I am a Level 9 Local Guide. It all started off with a prompt by Google to review a single place and here we are six+ years later with 300+ people following my updates. Now ranked in the top 1% of guides and find myself reviewing everywhere I go.

It is really quite interesting looking at your map and seeing where you have been in the world. Plus with the review and photos attached to each place I know whether to return or avoid in the future. I love going to new places and this helps me identify spots I have missed.

Fancy a peak of where I have been and reviewed? Feel free to check out my Local Guides profile or click the button below for more info.

Collecting far too many things

For as long as I can remember, I have always 'collected' things. Whether that was Pokémon cards or Crazy Bones back when I was in primary school, or postcards and stamps in my old before my time teenage years, I have always found solace in collecting.

Nowadays, I mostly focus on collecting coins and notes from all over the world as well as collectibles such as Funko Pop Vinyls. I recently started collecting Pokémon cards again as a throwback to my childhood. Other collections in the past have included postage stamps, postcards, key rings, mugs, pencils to name just a few.

Critiquing food establishments with Ellie

I am a bit of a foodie. I love food and I really enjoy trying new places and dishes. I am quite particular with my food and see myself as a completely non-qualified food critic.

So much so, that myself and a friend of mine have setup our own 'pub review guide'. Much akin and just as useful as the Michelin pub guide. We visit and then review the pubs on a range of categories including taste, appearance, portion, facilities and cleanliness. It started off as a joke following a funny experience at The Plough in Upper Dicker but has turned into something we take quite seriously now.

Pointless Stats

I love facts and figures, always have done. Nothing more pointless than the four stats featured here but I enjoy them.
